The writings of Muhammad Ali Jauhar (1878-1931) can be divided into:
- English prose
- Urdu prose
- Urdu poetry
In English prose, the following items may be regarded as necessary readings without which our understanding of the modern world might be in danger of remaining one-sided:
- Thoughts on the Present Discontent (1907)
- The Future of Islam (1912)
- The Choice of the Turks (1914)
- Khilafat speeches (1920)
- Defense presented during trial for sedition (1922)
- Presidential address to the annual session of Indian National Congress (1925)
- The last speech in London (1930)
Unfortunately I don’t have a copy of the second item (‘The Future of Islam’) at present, but excerpts from the rest are going to be shared on this blog.
Thanks so much for this. I am searching Jauhar's writings... and this was helpful.
